“The Millennium Odyssey is a unique project, which proves that we are proud to be Lithuanians. TV3 news has assumed special responsibility to cover the entire journey of the yacht, the daily rounds of the crew and their visits to the Lithuanian communities scattered all over the world, in order to reinforce the spirit and to make it possible for all of us to raise our heads high and say: “We come together under one name – Lithuania.” Since this is such an important and demanding task, our news service is driven by the heartfelt objective to unite all Lithuanians, for the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Lithuania’s name on the 6th of July of the following year.”
Jolanta Butkevičienė,
The head of TV3 news service
“The 1000th anniversary of Lithuania’s name – comes but once in a millennium! This is a historic fact of our country, thus we did not hesitate to contribute to its commemoration. We believe in the idea of the Millennium Odyssey and its mission to gather the Lithuanians scattered all over the world for the celebration of the anniversary, to promote the name of Lithuania, to spread solidarity and to reinforce the image of the country. We praise the participants of the journey – Lithuanian sailors, carrying the flag of our country around the world to show everyone that we are proud of country, we respect her and believe in her future. Such projects inspire good deeds.”

“Since its very start ERGO insurance group has been concerned with its social environment and has supported projects significant for Lithuania. Such is the Millennium Odyssey project. We are glad to have the opportunity to support it and celebrate the written history of Lithuania together with the Lithuanian communities from all around the world. This journey demands a lot of endurance, strength and responsibility from the yachtsmen. It is good to know that in case of an accident in any part of the world, the members of the crew will receive proper care. Therefore, we, being an insurance company, have insured the participants of the Millennium Odyssey and the yacht to the sum of 35 million litas.”
Dr. Kęstutis Bagdonavičius,
The chairman of the management board of ERGO’s Baltic States insurance group
We are used to being modest. Yet, is it always a virtue? We have a thousand-year-old history, we once ruled vast lands, we have contributed many prominent people to the world. We must overcome our provinciality and loudly proclaim to the world once again: Lithuania is alive, Lithuania will show you what she is capable of! We wish the yachtsmen a successful voyage, announcing the name of the reborn Lithuania to the world.

We feel honoured, that being the radio station of the celebrations, we can broadcast the invitations to the anniversary of Lithuania’s name, carried with our sailors navigating around the world. We are glad to have the possibility to keep our audience in touch with the participants of the Millennium Odyssey at crucial moments of the journey, and to send them the regards of our listeners.

“The millennium Odyssey provides us a chance to prove that we are an organized, harmonious and public-spirited community. We embark upon an important mission to promote Lithuania and gather our fellow countrymen in all five continents to commemorate the name of our homeland. May this voyage around the world become an example to our country in creating and implementing the most ambitious future plans. Wherever you are – aboard or ashore, in Cape Horn or Klaipėda – we will all be a part of this historic event, as we come together under one name – Lithuania.”
Robertas Dargis
The president of Lithuanian Sailors Union
“The Millennium Odyssey has three themes, just like the Lithuanian Flag. Firstly, it’s the pride of the thousand-year-old history of Lithuania. Secondly, it’s the promotion of Lithuania as a seafaring nation with strong marine traditions. And thirdly, the project is significant for the development and expansion of club activity in Lithuania. Overall, for many it is an opportunity to make a life-time dream come true.”
