The route around the world
The yacht, which set sail on the 5th of October 2008, will travel more than 40 000 nautical miles in 4800 hours. Having toured around the globe, the yachtsmen of “The Millennium Odyssey” will reach their native shores on the 5th of July, 2009. They will return having completed their mission – inviting the Lithuanians of the world to gather for the celebrations.
An extremely changeable climate, heat, tornados, terrifyingly huge waves, storms, headwind or a complete calm – “The Millennium Odyssey” can expect everything on its journey around the world. Only the time and place are unknown. It might be Cape Horn or the Bermuda Triangle... or the Baltic Sea.
Facing the challenges of the sea and the elements are 11 crews (around 120 Lithuanian sailors) on rotation for the many legs of the voyage of the yacht LTU 1000 “Ambersail”.
